GOOD LUCK, EVERYPONY!
So one of the great thing about BAPcon was that it was kid-friendly, so there were lots of little kids with some very patient parents. One little girl came up to look at my stuff and told me that she could draw, too. I said “Really? Do you feel like drawing something?” and she got all excited and came around to my side of the table. I gave her some paper and pencil and she started drawing. I said “Oh boy, which pony is that?” and she gave me a look and said “You have to wait, you’ll see in a minute!”
She drew me this beautiful Celestia and signed it, and then gave me an enormous hug before going on her way. My heart turned all wibbly and jello-y cause daaaang, the sincerity of little kids, man.

Skip this if you don’t want to see me being negative.
This basically mirrors my thoughts on BAPcon. Too small to really be worth it, especially to vendors. The marketplace suddenly shutting down 2 hours early was also really bad, and from what I understand, the overall scheduling was pretty terrible. I was supposed to be part of an artists’ panel but it got moved to the same timeslot as the Tara Strong skype panel, so ZERO people showed up and we cancelled.
The marketplace set up was poor too, with the room being too big for the amount of vendors, and WAY too many vendors for the number of attendees. My tablemate and I were at the far end of the room, so anyone who actually made it back to us had already bought their merch at bigger tables like welovefine, JJ, and PT by the time they reached us. Every other vendor I talked to either barely broke even or was fully in the red. I made barely 1/5th of the money I spent on my merch/table costs/ticket. From what I understand, Bronycon vendors sold out of all their merch within a few hours of the first day, so this was a huge let down and also a huge money waster.
On the bright side, almost everyone was very sweet and friendly, but I really didn’t get the chance to leave my table for fear of losing more money, so I missed all the events/concerts/panels. I met some twitter/tumblr friends, which was really nice, and there were lots of cute kids walking around too. However, it would have been more fun to go with friends than alone, I think.
I’ll be setting up a TUMBLR GIVEAWAY along with details for my new Etsy shop tomorrow in order to try to make up some of the money I lost this weekend.
